Little man of the house

Aaron has started comforting Ethan whenever Ethan talks about daddy. This morning Ethan was saying "I wan da-dee" over and over. In a big brotherly, loving way, Aaron says,"Oh bbbuuubbbbssssss, daddy's in Colorado an we gonna have a showing an we gonna go to Colorado too."

That wasn't the only time he's brought out that comforting line. The other day I was feeling pretty down. It had been a tiring day and I wasn't myself.  Our perceptive little three year old first asked me what was wrong and if I needed an ice cube. He thought maybe I had a booboo that needed an ice pack.  I told him was just feeling a little sad though I never said why. His response was, "Oh you miss daddy? Its ok."  He is so thoughtful.

Seems this little man is taking care of both his baby brother and his mommy.  Love that kid!

Favorite part of the day

Yesterday I asked Aaron what his favorite part of the day was. He said, "Bubs. Playin wis bubs."  Ahhh he loves his brother so much.
My favorite part of the day was dancing like crazy people in Aarons bedroom. We listened to Party Rock Anthem while they did the "Aaron shuffle."  When I joined in Aaron said, "Mom, stop dancing mom." As if I were embarrassing him! Some kids tell their parents to stop singing when music comes on. Mine say stop dancing.

Lake Trip!

Last week I packed the boys up and headed for Tablerock Lake for a few days with my family.  We stayed at Stonebridge and had a great time!  It had been a while since we have been there and I had never paid attention to the kids stuff before.  They have a fantastic pool, a playground, and even a nature trail.  We checked out all three while we were there.

On Saturday we were just thankful have made it at all.  On the way down my tire started acting funny and my car would shake if I took it over 55 mph.  We stopped in Clinton at Wal-mart to have them take a look at it.  They got it all fixed up and $100 and 7 hours later we were at the waters edge.  We swam for a while - the boys had fun after they got used to it.  Aaron immediately made a new friend in Aunt Katie's boyfriend, Adam and from that point on he was "big A" to Aaron.  Adam could do flips off the dock and that made him instantly cool.

Sunday was the big Silver Dollar City day where we got to "ride the rides!"  We had to get some Billy Gails first though.  If you've never had the pleasure of eating at Billy Gails you are missing out.  They serve pancakes bigger than your plate!  We always try to go there for breakfast at least once while we are there.

So stuffed with breakfast we headed to SDC and braved the hot temperatures. Luckily, hot weather equaled short lines!  And it wasn't really that bad.  We stayed in the shade, ran in sprinklers, and rode rides to cool off. The boys loved it and they did fantastic lasting from 10:30 to 6:00!!  Aaron is still talking about the rides.
 Pre coaster... still happy!
Papa stayed with Ethan while the rest of us rode...
...maybe wasn't the best thing to start with!  Poor guy! BUT he did have fun the rest of the day despite the bad coaster experience.
 Water break
 Ethan's favorite ride.
 Nap time!!

 Cool dude!
Monday we played around at the condo.  We went swimming with Big A and Aunt Katie in the cool kiddie pool with sprayers, a jungle gym, and slide.  I took the kids to the nature trail but it was a bit hot and Aaron wanted to ride his bike which was hard on the dirt path.  The playground would have been fun but it was a little too hot.  So we mostly just hung around and chilled.  Every night we (the adults) played hand and foot - a card game that has become a favorite in our family.  It takes a while to play through the rounds and it's fun to play with partners while we snack the night away.

Tuesday we went out on the boat for a bit in the morning.  We took a ride to a nice cove and went for a swim with our floaties and squirt guns!  The boat had some trouble starting back up and for a minute we were a little worried - well maybe 15 minutes - and then Dad and Adam got it working again.  Whew!  That night we went to the Landing to see some fireworks.  After our long wait (the band played for 2 solid hours from 8-10!) we got to see a great display set to music.  They were actually shot off from a barge on Lake Taneycomo and we were just off the shore so we got see them go off from the ground up.  It was pretty cool.

We had a great time and enjoyed seeing and doing things we haven't gotten to in a few years.  : )

Aaron turns 3!!

We have a preschooler!!!  Well age wise anyway... no, this momma still does not have him enrolled as I do not know where we will be in August.  I digress, Aaron is 3!!  Happy belated birthday buddy.  We sure celebrated a lot this year didn't we?  Winter Park, Denver, at home with Grandma and Granddad, at the lake with Nanny and Papa... whew!  We are so blessed!

I've posted our Winter Park/Denver pics already so I won't repeat them but we had a great time and celebrated at the condo and also at Matt and Jaquelyn's apartment when he got his bike.

When we got back from our trip, Grandma and Granddad came over with gifts and took us our for dinner of Aaron's choice: McDonalds!  Of course!

Last week we went to the lake (Tablerock Lake) with Nanny, Papa, Aunt Katie, Adam, and Aunt Chelsee.  We celebrated Saturday night.

We we got back there was a package on the steps from Aunt Jenny.  He loves to take "Ribbit" (as he named him) around with him and feed him/dress him.

Aaron LOVES all of his new toys and outfits.  Thank you EVERYONE! You all made his birthday very special.

Here are Aaron's 3 year check up stats:

Date: 6-4-12
Weight: 28lbs, 4 oz, 25%   (Yes, less than 5 lbs more than Ethan!)
Height: 37 1/2 inches, 50-70%  (Tall and skinny)

Aaron,

You are so full of life and energy!  You are getting so grown up that "mommy" is fading away and I've now become just "mom" to you.  You know just when to tell me you love me or give me a hug.  You are  considerate of other peoples feelings and always ask if something is wrong.  You have a wonderful heart.  You can climb like a champ and have little fear of jumping off of things!  Your vocabulary is constantly growing and you are always surprising me with your grown up phrases.  I love it that you like to cuddle me in the mornings when you wake up and that you are finally wanting to play with your brother - even if it's rough sometimes.  You are so smart and have a fantastic memory.  I know you miss your daddy right now and you tell me every day.  I also love that you are starting to learn more about Jesus and want to sing songs, pray, and blow kisses to Him.  You LOVE to sing songs.  We have songs for everything.  At night you tell me you want a song about something and I make one up just for you.  Then you remember it the next day and I can't remember the tune!!  I get tired and worn down sometimes but you always kiss me goodnight, love on me, and melt my heart by bedtime.  I love you so much.

Love you Always - and as Aunt Chelsee would say... not this much, THIS MUCH!!!!

Ethan's 15 month Checkup

So it's almost 2 months overdue now!  I'm sure he's gained a few pounds and inches since then.  Actually his appointment was almost a month overdue so he was really more like 16 months at the time.  Whatever.  Here's the stats:

Date: 6-4-12
Weight: 23lbs 10oz, 30-40%
Height: 31 1/4 inches, 52%
Head Circ: 18 inches, 10-25%

Ethan,

You are so precious to us.  You are growing up way too fast - I can barely remember you as a baby-baby.  You love your family.  You love strangers.  You basically love everyone. And you are a flirt, already a heart breaker holding hands with girls at the pool and wooing chicks on the playground with your adorable dimple and missing tooth.

You're also starting to talk.  Here's what you are saying right now:

Da-ee, dad, da-da, ma, ma-ma, ma-mee, hi, bye, ba-bye, I wan down, I done, I stuck, a-ma (amen), gam cacka, ball, dog, ni-nite, qack-qack-qack (quack), beep beep beep, and so many other words that you can mimic really well

You LOVE to eat - almost anything we give you and yet you are still so perfectly healthy.  You usually get down and go finish your brother's plate after you've already had seconds.
You are perpetually happy.  It takes a lot to make you unhappy or tearful.  Well besides when Aaron is picking on you.  But even then you are usually laughing.
You are such a cuddle bug too.  You love your "bankie" and have to have it where ever we go.  Once we left it at home before going to the lake and had to go home to get it.
You love your brother and look up to him and try to do everything he does.

We love you bubs,
Ma-mee
