Bike season!

I can't tell you how happy it makes me to be on a bike again!!!  Last year Ethan was too little so I don't think I even got my bike out once.  We've been a few times this year and the boys like it for the most part.  I think Ethan is still getting used to it.  We've discovered that they both like the seat better and therefore fight over it by whining while in the trailer.  I tried to make them both sit in the trailer once and it was a nightmare!  They just fought the whole time.  I actually did the whole, "I'll pull over right now if you don't quit it!" thing.  And I did follow through and pull the bike over.  Three times.  It was ineffective. That was the first and only time we will be doing that!

So the next time I put one in the seat and one in the trailer.  But that was a little troublesome too because the one in the trailer would cry about wanting to sit in the seat.  But we HAVE had some fun moments where one or the other is OK in the trailer for a while.  We just bought a seat for John's bike so that both of them can sit in a seat and we can take longer rides.  That's fine for family rides but one of them MUST sit in the trailer on mommy only rides.  Plus the trailer may still come in handy when we get to Colorado.  We can haul things in it.  Like camping equipment or something.

Our Mother's Day trip - the first ride of the season.  Ethan wasn't sure at first but eventually he settled.
 Food or drink usually helps

oops - no helmet!  But I did make him put it on eventually! : )  The bonus to bringing the trailer is we can attach his bike to the back and he can ride it once we get to the park.
This was a mommy and boys trip.  Aaron wasn't happy in either seat.
Ethan actually did ok in the trailer for a short period.  I think he was just so tired he didn't care.

Looking forward to more bike rides and some family rides before John moves to Denver!

Ernie Miller Nature Park Hike

On Monday, John, the kids, and I went to Ernie Miller Park and met up with Esther and the kids (well most of them) to do some hiking and picnicking.  We had a great time.  Aaron was crabby off and on but for the most part he was a trooper.  We made him walk the whole way.  He's getting too big for the backpack now and he's old enough to walk himself!  Eman has been upgraded to the kid-pack.  It's getting too hard to carry him in the baby carrier anymore.  They are growing up so quick.  He had fun and was all smiles for most of the ride.  How could you not smile when you're riding on someone's back enjoying the outdoors?
Happy on the way - "I wanna go hiking!"
Not so happy - "I wanna ride my bike." Not that kind of trip buddy.
Matching hats! : )
 Family pic!

Love these shoes! Aren't those the cutest miniature John feet ever?
 Happy trails
Aaron workin hard - you did great buddy!

Quality time before we move

As the time nears for us to move to Colorado we'll probably be spending more time with our families.  We are going to miss everyone so much. I can't believe it's coming up so fast.  John will be moving in with Matt and Jacquelyn on June 7th and starting his new job June 11th!  We still do not have any bites on our house but we have had some showings.  Please pray it sells soon so the boys and I can plan OUR move date too.  We're jumping on the preschool bandwagon this fall for Aaron so he will start 2 day a week preschool in August.  That means we MUST move at least by then.  I'm trying to stay positive.  Maybe God is preparing the perfect place for us to live in Lakewood and it's just not ready yet.  Meanwhile, here are some memory makers for the blog book.

Playing at the park after dinner at Olive Garden with Grandma and Granddad.
 They LOVE to swing!
I love this boy's cheesy smile!
I met my parents at Quick trip for a quick swap of Aaron.  They went in for treats before heading out to the lake.
Aaron and Papa driving the boat.
He liked the beginning and end but was not so fond of the trolling around thing.

Petting Zoo with Grammy

This week we went on a fantastic outing with Grammy to the petting zoo.  It is so nice to have her close by and be able to do fun things together.  Deanna Rose Farmstead is only minutes from her apartment and costs nothing in the middle of the week.  This is where stay-at-home-mom and semi-retired grammy have great advantages!  We will certainly be making the trip again.  The park is so large that you cannot see it all in one day.  At least not with a 1 year old and a 2 year old.  In addition to the animals, there are playgrounds, exhibits, flower gardens, and a nature trail to see.  The boys were most interested in the playgrounds so after a few animal visits, they were ready to let out some energy.

And then of course they were hungry!  Grammy packed us a great little lunch and we headed to the parking lot to grab the cooler and find a spot to claim our own.  There is another playground just outside of the park and it was perfect.  Lunch was great and we even had fancy cupcakes for dessert.
Then it was off to play in the playground and of course - swing!  That's all Aaron wants to do right now.  And all Ethan wants to do is slide!  He goes up almost as quick as he goes down.  Down the slide, run around and up the stairs.  Repeat. Repeat. Repeat....  It never gets old.

The boys were wiped out!  Ethan didn't make it the few minutes back to Grammy's apartment.  Not that she minded....  he slept in her arms while I changed over the car seats and loaded up the car.  Looking forward to our next trip!

Daddy's Tag-Along

Our boys sure do love their daddy!  They are so interested in whatever he is working on.  Especially "man-ly" things that mommy never does.  The other day we were all hanging out in the front yard working on stuff.  I was cleaning out my car - boring.  But daddy was changing the oil in his Jeep and mowing the front lawn.  Ethan was extremely curious.  He wanted to help daddy do the boy chores.

He just wanted to be close

 Let me try dad!

Ethan mowing the grass!!!!  Well until we got too nervous to let him keep going! : )
No worries, Ethan just walked next to him instead

One of Aaron's interests right now is airplanes.  He LOVES to see them fly in the air and points them out every chance he gets.  Sometimes he even asks me to roll down the window so he can hear it.  I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that we live so close to the Gardner Municipal Airport.  The park there is one of Aaron's favorites because we get to hang out right by the tarmac and occasionally we see planes land or take off.  They are small prop planes and he is totally fascinated by them.  He loves pointing to things and asking what they are or "how does it work mommy?"  He is so smart and I love seeing the wheels turning in his mind.  Like, how does that funny looking thing that has wheels fly like a bird in the air?

So the other night while we were killing time to show our house, I decided to take the boys to New Century Airport to see if we could find a park or look at planes together.  There is a Navy Park there that has a few fighter jets (at least I think that's what they are) on display.  They are gutted and are for looks only so we stopped to get out and check it out.  It was pretty neat.  I wish I knew more about planes!  While we were there we saw (in the distance) a Learjet take off and a helicopter flew right over our heads.  We had a great time and got some great pics.  Afterwards we drove around to see the runways with their lights on and the hangers.  At one hanger there was a Learjet and a few prop planes next to it so you could see the huge difference in size.  Aaron said, "There's a mommy plane, and there's a baby plane!"  So cute.

We've decided that airplanes will be the theme of his birthday party this year and he's already requested an "airplane" cake.  He knows it's coming up and he loves to tell people, "my birthday's coming."  He's been saying it for about a month now!  Just today he told Grandma after she asked him how old he is, "I'm almost 3 but I'm only 2."  What a smartie pants!

This thing called Skype

Well I've been living in the dark ages and finally went out and got a web cam for our desktop computer.  Now I know that when I get a new laptop or tablet it will have all this stuff built in.  In all likely hood I will be left behind for a short time while John moves out to Denver to start his job.  That means we need to communicate!!!  (And we don't really have the money to spend on a new laptop right now.)  So I went to Wal-mart, found a good deal, hooked it up and BAM!  Just like that I've moved ahead in the electronics world and started taking ridiculous pictures of myself and making silly videos.  : )

John left for Denver today to scope out places to live and to meet with his new employer!!!  We thought about making a family trip but it just didn't work out logistically with the kiddos.  We thought it would be easier for him to skype me when he gets to apartments and I could "walk through" them with him.  His phone is fabulous and has a forward facing camera so he can just use that to skype with me.  I love that word.  It's pretty fun to say.  Skype.  Yup.  I'm tired and loopy right now.  Check this out.

Money, money, money...MON-EY

Oh to have enough to never have to worry about that silly green paper with dead presidents on it. I'm not going to complain since I do get to stay home with my kiddos which is priceless in my opinion, but I will say that it seems when it rains it poors. (Spelling pun intended.)  No worries, we'll make it. We always do. Just annoying. Enough said.
