Destructor strikes again

He sure is lucky to be so dang cute.  I love my little destructor and someday he'll laugh at all the crazy things he did. Maybe I'll show his wife this book when they have a kid of their own! If I could peek into Johns toddler years I wonder what I'd see?
This morning, as I was making breakfast, Aaron was trying to push a chair to the counter and "hurry me up" by whining as is his normal routine.  Unfortunatly he never made it that far. Due to continued toddler abuse, the chair finally broke. I would have been upset except it was clear that he was not crying because he broke the chair. He was crying because he could no longer supervise mommy. I found it funny so I grabbed the camera.  Guess we'll be getting out the wood glue!

Monkey Bizness

Aaron is most certainly in the business of monkeying around!  From climbing our banister to conquering the jungle gyms at Monkey Bizness, he is all boy and all toddler!

Last week Aaron and I went on a mommy date to Monkey Bizness while daddy stayed home and watched Ethan.  It was a quite day and we were pretty much the only ones.  I went on EVERYTHING with Aaron and I'm not sure who had more fun... or burned more calories!  I chased him all over this contraption and he even went in all the different bounce houses. (Something he is usually afraid of.)  I never could get a great picture of him because he was always on the move!! He slept great that day!

Happy Baby

Ethan is full of smiles lately.  He is getting so big!  At his 2 month appointment he weighed in at 13lbs, 6oz which puts him in the 90th percentile still.  His height is 23 inches so he's roughly in the 50th percentile but to me he still seems long!  He's currently wearing 3-6 month clothing so I've had to pack up all of the newborn and 0-3 months stuff.  I just want to squeeze him and hold him all the time!

He loves to sleep on his side - no flat head for Eman!

 "Just 5 more minutes mom..."

 LOVE that gummy smile

Easter Weekend

Wow, I can't believe it's been over 10 days since my last post!  I guess time is just flying by!  We had a very busy and exciting weekend.  On Saturday evening we went over to Grandma and Grandad's house for dinner and some Easter goodies.  Aaron got to hunt for eggs and open a cool basket full of goodies.  We had an awesome steak and chicken kabob dinner complete with potato casserole, corn on the cob, and green beans.  Yum!!

Sunday morning I took the kiddos to church with mom, dad, Katie, Grammy, and Grandma.  John stayed home to sleep a little since he had to work that night.  Then we had another egg hunt for Aaron with more goodies to open and enjoyed a nice turkey dinner with all the fixin's.  Aaron collected 3 basket fulls of eggs!!!  I need to get some pics from Aunt Katie because mommy forgot her camera so these were with my phone.

Both boys were pretty worn out by the time we got home Sunday night but it was so nice to spend so much time with all the family.  After sorting through all the goodies at home, we had an entire large zip lock bag full of candy!  Aaron will be working on it for quite some time.  We divvy it out based on "good behavior" one piece at a time.  Seems to be working - gotta love bribes!  His new toys have gotten much use and we've had fun playing with bubbles and sidewalk chalk outside.

Egg-citing day

On to our 2nd egg hunt of the year... with Grandma Great at the Atriums!  Aaron was so cute with his little basket and Papa.  Papa held the basket while Aaron collected eggs.  Only Aaron wanted the BIGGEST egg he could find. It was a decoration so it didn't actually have anything in it but that didn't seem to phase him!  He was more interested in it than the actual candy-filled ones!  The Easter bunny was there too and Aaron thought he was pretty funny.  He kept trying to pet him.  Too cute!  At least he wasn't scared of him!  We got some pretty great pics.  Enjoy...  (I had a very hard time narrowing them down so there are a few!)

Mystery Poop

So last night as I was getting Ethan dressed after the boys bath, Aaron got to have what we have come to call "naked time." Basically its about a five minute window where he can run around the house completely naked. He loves it and it usually involves screaming and jumping on mommy and daddy's bed until I have free hands to dress him.

I went to get him and as I was tickeling him I noticed a brown spec on my bed so I picked it up. It was poop! Then I saw a shmear on my pillow.  MY PILLOW!  I immediatly thought it was from Aaron.  So off with all the sheets and pillow cases.  Gross!

But that's not the end of it.  When John woke up today he discovered more poop on my side of the bed.  These were the new clean sheets.  Aaron had not been in there without a diaper. Ethan slept with me last night but was wearing button up jammies that poop could not have come out of.  John swears it was not ellie because he would have known if she got on the bed while he slept. So, if it wasn't me, it wasn't John, it wasn't our kids, or our dog, why am I cleaning poopy sheets for the 2nd night in a row? This better not happen a 3rd night...

Take a Hike!

Last year it was biking... this year it's hiking!

We had so much fun training for and participating in Bike Across Kansas last year. I am a little bummed (ok a lot bummed) we can't do it again this year but adding a new family member changes the dynamics of things a little. I was able to train with Aaron last year on the bike while he rode in his "chariot" or behind me in the baby seat. But biking is just not logistical now with a newborn and a toddler. I look forward to the day when Ethan is big enough to ride with us. Then I can take both my boys out for a bike ride - won't that be a workout! But for now, we have adopted a different outdoor family activity. Hiking.

John has recently been talking about hiking the Appalachian Trail. He and the siblings really want to do it together. How cool would that be?! The whole trail takes 6 months to do - that's a little extreme! So we were thinking a week or two instead. Of course, a trip like that is not exactly baby/toddler friendly so I may not be joining them depending on whether I get the nerve to leave my kiddos for that long. It's also not something that is planned in stone yet, and certainly not for this year. Maybe next year when Jenny is finished with school. But that said, we would like to start training for such an event right away! Carrying a toddler on your back is great practice. So the other day we called up Matt and headed out to Kill Creek again. Yep, our boys are going to be outdoors-men!

Matt is about the only person who is skinny enough to squeeze between the car seats in the back of our car!

In step with daddy. *LOVE this one!

Ethan turns 2 months

Life is so busy with 2 under 2 that I realized today is the 15th and Ethan turned 2 months old 3 days ago! Time is flying by and he is growing like a weed! I LOVE to hear him coo. It is the sweetest sound and one of my favorite things about this stage. He's also starting to blow bubbles. Just today he gurgled so much he drooled all down his chin.  Ethan is such an easy going baby. (Thankfully!)  We're still partly co-sleeping as we don't have his room done yet. I'm not complaining though - we've got "sleep-nursing" down pat!  A part of me will be sad when its time to transfer him to his own bed. Still another part of me welcomes deeper sleep and more room to toss and turn a little!
His next appointment is Tuesday so I'll be sure to post his stats later.

Egg hunt

One of the things we did this past weekend was go on our first egg hunt with Aaron.  It was so much fun! One of Johns co-workers invited us to her house for their annual family egg hunt... they hid 2100 eggs on their 5 acres! They do it every year and invite their friends and family with children elementary school aged and younger.  We were glad to be invited and even happier that we could go.  Aaron didn't get it at first but as soon as he figured out there were prizes involved inside those pretty plastic eggs, he was all about it!

Melts my heart

So this past weekend was so wonderful and the highlight for me was receiving my first un-prompted, hand-picked bouquet of flowers from my little boy.  It was soooo sweet! Aaron had picked a dandelion outside with grandma and she showed him where some other flower were.  He then brought them inside where I was nursing Ethan and presented them to me.  It melted my heart so much that I couldn't keep from tearing up.  I am saving these flowers by pressing them in a book. Just like I have the daisy that John proposed to me with over 9 years ago!

Family Saturday

We had an AWESOME day yesterday!  It started off with John getting up with Aaron and making us breakfast.  Then we got the finger paints out again so John could see what a little artist we have.  It was very messy and oh so fun.  Then after lunch and nap time we took the kiddos to Kill Creek park for a nice afternoon hike.  I found a great backpack kid carrier at a consignment sale on Wednesday with my mom and we were dying to try it out!  We wrapped up the day with a date night to the Hereford House compliments of SMMC.  (We got a gift card for choosing SMMC to deliver Ethan since John works there.)  All in all, a fantastic day!

 Teaching Aaron to skip rocks.

 All ready to hike

Pretty purple flower along the trail

 Sound asleep the whole time!

I got the lighter load!  I did wear a backpack to carry our snacks and drinks.
